Programme note:

The four “fish” in this piece are represented by 4 scales, each derived from a specific set of intervals. They swim around, stalking each other until a sudden burst of activity signifies an attack. If successful, the attacker then takes on some of the characteristics of its prey as it digests its intervallic content. The triumphant fish swims off, only to be stalked by a bigger fish as the process begins anew.
